Dawna Daily, Elkhorn native and community enthusiast has a passion for all people to experience the best of life. As the Program Director for Down Syndrome Association for Families of Nebraska, combined with her background as an independent habilitative provider through the state of Nebraska, her calling for Daily Yaymaker, LLC is a mix of a need in the community, having fun, and using her knowledge (and help from a few friends) to create something really special.
Daily Yaymaker, LLC located in Elkhorn, Nebraska provides any person with disabilities the opportunity to travel and attend events, as well as takes away the stress of travel and planning out for caregivers, so it’s an enjoyable experience for all.
“For many years my friend Cory and had a standing weekly date,” said Daily. “It seemed that he knew every one in our community and we had a wonderful time on our outings.”
“The thing is, Cory having down syndrome, we just didn’t see a lot of people with disabilities out in public during our get togethers. I want to change that in Nebraska.”
Partnering with a few friends like Chris Slater of who helped formulate the company name and branding efforts, as well as John (JJ) Bell owner of for transportation to and from events, this new venture started to take a life of it’s own.
“I do feel that something bigger than me put us all in this place, with these amazing people that have lend themselves to what I was going to do,” said Daily.
“Without their help, we wouldn’t have this drive pushing Daily Yaymakers onward to be a part of our community.”
Offering unique events like concerts and other live performances, day trips out of state, wineries, swim parties, sporting events (Go Huskers!) and so forth, individuals who once felt isolated and uninvited are now able to enjoy the same activities as anyone else.
So how does this work? Monthly membership for Yay members are offered which include up to three outings a month, travel and other expenses. Other offerings can be added “ala carte”, as well as vacation packages. Daily Yaymakers, LLC understands that not all people can afford to take on extra costs, and therefore has a “Yay it forward” option for those interested to be sponsored. Free events will also be available, like provided by Daily Yaymakers and Relevant Church.
All events are sponsored by Daily Yaymakers and area businesses and are not separate events within the community, and are ADA accessible. Those participating will socialize in a safe environment with the security of reliable transportation as well as consistent fun, different events.
“At the end of the day, we just want all people to have a sense of belonging.”
Saturday, May 11th Daily Yaymaker, LLC will be hosting a at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices office in Village Pointe. Official launch is expected July 27, 2019 with a day trip to Indianola, Iowa for the National Balloon Classic.
